Today there is much debate about the necessity and safety of vaccinations. The fact is that there is no real research that shows the negative effects of vaccines like many people believe. Vaccines prevent illness as well as preventing the spread of illness. With healthcare employees being constantly subjected to ill patients it is not only important for your employees to be protected, but also to prevent the spread of illness to your facility’s healthy patients.
Of course you cannot mandate most vaccines, but you can try to do your part by educating and encouraging your employees to become vaccinated. Make sure they understand the importance of prevention. If the budget allows you can implement incentive programs for employees up to date on their vaccines. For example, a gift card of some sort, or a luncheon. If the budget does not allow, but you think an incentive will prompt your employees, you can offer something free such as allowing the vaccinated employees to wear jeans every Friday for a month, or something that your employees will appreciate.
